QINGDAO has been accepted as a member of the World Union of Olympic Cities (WUOC) at the third edition of the WUOC Lausanne Summit, which opened in Beijing on Oct. 15.
The summit was attended by representatives of more than 30 cities, discussing issues of Olympic legacies and the education of the youth through sport.
Another seven cities such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, Moscow and Durban were also granted membership.
The annual Lausanne Summit is organized by the WUOC, a union created in 2002 by the cities of Athens, Greece, and Lausanne, Switzerland, with the support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is an association of cities that wish to associate with the Olympic Movement and offers a platform for exchange of experiences between former Olympic cities and future candidates.
