ORK started on the National University Technology Park on Oct. 18.
Phase one of the main park will cover an area of 82,600 square meters to the north of Qingdao High-tech Park near Jiaozhou Bay, costing 500 million yuan (US$ 75 million) and will open in 2012.
The National University Technology Park was initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education to transform scientific findings into industrial production.
There will be a R&D district, a pilot production center and a production district in the main park.
The park will accommodate a number of significant national and provincial scientific research projects, especially in oceanic science, electronic information, biotechnology, new materials and environmental engineering.
The Qingdao High-tech Park will also cooperate with universities in Qingdao to build R&D and industrialization bases, training centers, labs and technology centers to promote applications of scientific research.(Chen Ting, Duan Xiaodong)
