IF you are a cartoon and animation master, or enthusiast, who cares about and loves the sea, put your imagination to work and enter a competition initiated by the Qingdao cartoon and animation innovative industry association.

    Works chosen will be awarded prizes of up to 20,000 yuan (US$2,985) and become a name card for blue Qingdao to be shown on TV.

    The competition is divided into two sections, cartoons, which will be subdivided into short cartoons and single cartoon works, as well as animation works, which will be 15-to-30-second public service advertisements featuring the sea. The works should promote marine scientific knowledge, said Sun Baigang, the association head.

    Blue indicates the sea, on which Qingdao has always prided itself and built its unique culture and traditions, said Huang Yusong, head of Qingdao’s oceanic and fishery administration.
