CELEBRITY lectures are now popular among students in Qingdao universities such as Ocean University of China and Qingdao University of Science and Technology.

    The “Baguan Mountain Lectures” of Ocean University of China hosted a lecture Oct. 26 by Yang Rui, a CCTV host who won the top host award of “Golden Microphone” in 2004.

    The lecture room was packed with interested students.

    Zhao Jinping, the first scientist in China to conquer both the North and South Poles, also lectured at the university.

    His lecture on exploration at the North Pole was about exploration, courage and challenging human limits.

    The “Qiuside Seminar” at Qingdao University of Science and Technology was founded in 2004 and a number of renowned scholors such as Zheng Shouyi, of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Anxi from Haier Group, and Liang Zhu, vice president of Beijing University had been invited.

    The universities also broadcast the lectures or conducted online discussions to promote more communications between students and celebrities. (Chen Ting, Xiong Shaojuan)
