Tongzhen Temple reopens
     2010-November-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Tongzhen Temple in Xifu Community, Chengyang District reopened to the public Nov. 5 after being renovated.

The Taoist temple, built in the Han Dynasty to commemorate the county magistrate Tong Hui, has a history of more than 1,800 years.

There are four halls for worship of Tong Hui as well as gods and goddesses, and an exhibition room displaying Tong’s biography.

Wood carvings and wall paintings in the temple regained shape and color after the renovation.

Admission to the temple is now free.
