THE Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Qingdao government on Nov. 18 to set up a software research and development base in the city.
It is the fourth research and development institution affiliated with the CAS to be based in Qingdao.
Based on computer scientific theory and application research, the base will focus on the research and development of computer software, cooperating with local enterprises in the development of high-speed trains, home appliances and electronics.
More than 100 local enterprises have established cooperation with approximately 30 scientific research and development institutions on 200 projects in the fields of marine science, energy, materials and eco-environment.(Martin Li, Zhao Di)
