QINGDAO’S university science and technology park, which is under construction, has been recognized as the fifth national technology incubator by the ministries of science and technology and education.

    The park will be established by the Ocean University of China, Qingdao University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Qingdao Technological University and management committee of Qingdao High-tech Zone.

    It will be home to industrial projects for university science and technology achievements, providing a platform for education, academic communication and international cooperation with universities.

    The park will also introduce and attract innovative start-ups from universities at home and abroad.

    The first stage of the park will have floor area of 99,000 square meters with a total investment of 500 million yuan, including a 39,000-square-meter international academic communication center and a 60,000-square-meter science incubation zone.

    The park is scheduled to open in 2012.(Li Hao, Zhao Di)
