QINGDAO approved about 578 foreign-invested projects in the first 10 months of this year, 14.23 percent more than the same period last year. Contracted foreign capital reached US$3.352 billion, increasing by 184.86 percent over last year.
Of these, about US$2.643 billion was from new projects, increasing by 101.43 percent over last year, while about US$1.07 billion was from projects with additional capital, increasing by 100.88 percent over last year. About US$2.185 billion was paid into the accounts, an increase of 71.8 percent over last year.
Of the total, 117 projects had investments of more than US$10 million each with total contracted capital of US$2.198 billion, an increase of 14.23 percent over last year, while 23 projects had increased their capital by US$ 582 million in total. The contracted capital from big projects accounted for 83.23 percent in the total amount of contracted capital in the city. By the end of October, 85 of the world’s top 500 companies had invested in 183 projects in the city.
