A village biogas station, the first of its kind in China, has opened in Jimo City, Qingdao. The station, equipped with two biogas tanks measuring 800 square meters each, produces energy worth 670,000 yuan (US$98,200) each year. It will convert dailylife waste, domestic animal feces and straw into 670,000 cubic meters of biogas, fuelling the energy demands of 450 households. The discharge will be used as fertilizer for vegetables grown in 2,000 greenhouses. Chen Ting, Xing Zhifeng
