Art activities launched
     2010-November-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A SERIES of artistic activities was launched in Qingdao on Nov. 20, attracting residents to experience masterpieces of music and paintings by art professionals in Qingdao.

The opening performance was a concert combining folk music, Western classical music, modern chamber music and vocal music performed by more than 10 young artists from universities in Qingdao.

Several were overseas graduates, including Guo Liang from Russia, Song Yin from France, and Jiang He from the United Kingdom.

In recent years, the Qingdao University of Science and Technology, one of the organizers, has helped attract a number of international artists return to Qingdao, said Sun Peishan, vice head of the Arts College of the university.

It was an ideal platform for these artists to demonstrate their prowess and development, Sun said.

Wang Chunsheng, head of the Arts College, is a local painter, who has held painting and calligraphy exhibitions in several countries, but is hardly known by local people, Sun said. She hoped the event would enhance the artists’ reputations.
