Philippe Bizot, long acknowledged around the world as a top French mime artist, will present his art at Shenzhen Children’s Palace Theater on Dec. 19 with his show, “Thirty Years’ Silence.”
The show will be a chance for the audience to develop their imagination as Bizot uses the “universal language of silence.”
Bizot said: “Emotions are universal and have no boundaries. A mime can make the audience see their own emotions, common to all people around the world.”
Born in Bordeaux, France, Bizot began learning mime when he was just 8 years old. He was awarded the “International Paris Mime Prize” at the age of 20. Over the past 30 years, he has given pantomime performances to audiences throughout the world. But he has a special place in his heart for the mute, deaf and those with infantile autism.
Bizot said: “I like to perform to people who themselves live in a silent world. For various reasons, they struggle to communicate with others. Mime performances provide a window for them to better understand the outside world.”
Bizot has also set up mime institutes in countries including France, the United States, Lebanon, Bolivia and Pakistan.
This is not his first time in China. In 2005, he collaborated with Chinese Kunqu opera artists, while his performance proved a pleasant surprise for audiences.
