     2010-December-7  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

QINGDAO aims to turn itself into an environmentally friendly city in the next five years, according to a plan by the city’s ecological development.

According to the plan, which was proposed by the city forestry bureau, the city government will build 13 ecological projects and 26 key projects to make a livable city with a sound environment. The projects will cover forestation, wetland protection, water resource protection, garden construction, marine protection and carbon emission reduction.

The city will strengthen the protection of the ecological zone in Jiaozhou Bay and build three key ecological control areas in Laoshan Mountain, Daze Mountain and Great and Small Zhushan Mountains.(Li Hao, Wang Liyan)
