Exhibition industry growing by 18.5%

    THE exhibition industry in Qingdao has grown rapidly in recent years. According to statistics, the industry has increased by 18.5 percent on average every year and several national awards for the exhibition industry were bestowed on the city.

    The scale of exhibitions in Qingdao has also grown fast. Total exhibition areas now cover about 116,500 square meters and six venues have coverage from 4,500 to 50,000 square meters, including four comprehensive venues and two theme venues. Small venues are in central areas and large venues are mainly in Laoshan District, while specialized venues are built in different areas according to requirements. Among these, the Qingdao International Convention and Exhibition Center covers about 139,800 square meters with an indoor exhibition area of 50,000 square meters and 50,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition area. The indoor construction site of the Jimo Nanshan International Convention and Exhibition Center, which will open next year, will reach 200,000 square meters.
