Top musicians show their talent
     2010-December-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THREE internationally renowned musicians staged four concerts in Qingdao from Dec. 8 to 13.

Johan Schmidt, a prominent Belgian pianist, acquired his reputation through his virtuosity as much as through his sensitivity. Pupil of Master Eduardo del Pueyo, he then improved his talent with Master Karl-Heinz Kammerling.

A brilliant laureate of numerous international music contests, he has won accolades in competitions such as the Queen Elizabeth Competition and the Tchaikovsky Competition.

Schmidt has been awarded the Rotary Club’s Leonardo da Vinci Prize for young Europeans.

The youngest principle cellist at London Symphony Orchestra, David Cohen, has claimed 25 international awards and performed with many of the world’s top orchestras.

Dean of music at the Jewish music institute in Israel, Eyal Shiloach, has played violin with world-renowned orchestras such as the Israeli Symphony Orchestra and English Symphony Orchestra. He was the master violinist with many international symphony orchestras.

The three masters are also conducting exchanges with local music students between Dec. 13 and 15.
