CHU LILEI, a Chinese language teacher in Qingdao, won first prize of the Third National Teaching Competition for Primary Chinese Education from Dec. 1 to 3.
The competition was conducted by the National Center for School Curriculum and Textbook Development of the Ministry of Education.
Forty teachers from throughout the country took part.
Chu is teaching at Nanjing Road Primary School in Shinan District. She won the competition for teaching a fourth-grade class the text of “The Camphor Tree of Soong Ching Ling’s Former Home.” Her simple precise teaching was highly valued by the jury, who praised her course as “simple, useful and fun.”
Zhuang Min, a teacher at Experimental Primary School in Shinan District won first prize for video teaching.
The competition attracted more than 5,000 teachers and parents as observers. (Chen Ting, Liu Miao)
