American tap dance
     2010-December-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN American tap dance performance entitled “Caution Men at Work-Tap” was staged at the Qingdao Opera House on Dec. 4, offering Qingdao audience work scenes of American workers.

Premiered at an art festival at the Sydney Opera House in Australia in 1995, the performance had been on stage in Broadway and Edinburgh. Qingdao was the first stop.

On the platform, six dancers performed the roles of doctor, courier and fireman in a set depicting a heavy industrial atmosphere. They tapped to rock-and-roll electronic music in 10 costumes.

The microphones hidden in their tap shoes allowed the audience to experience the different sounds as they tapped on steel plate, walls, dustbins, brooms and even safe box. (Jane Lai, Pan Qi)
