QINGDAO will build 60,000 public rental flats and low-price homes in the next three years, according to the city’s public housing plan for 2011 to 2013.
Of these, 15,000 will be public rental apartments including 3,000 cheap-rent apartments and 15,000 will be flats sold at low prices with government subsidies. Public rental apartments and low-price apartments will be primarily in four urban districts while the rest, with a price ceiling enforced by the government, will be built in three suburban districts and the high-tech zone.
Planning and designing of the public housing projects will be finished before the end of March 2011. Relocation will be completed before the end of April, when building contractors will also be chosen. Construction will start in June.
The city’s housing authority has ordered guaranteed quality in construction. The officials urged the contractors to use new materials and new technology in building and upgrading the environment in residential estates and add greenery and other facilities.(Chen Ting, Cui Wu)
