THE output of Qingdao’s high-technology industry was expected to reach 540 billion yuan this year, accounting for 46.7 percent of the total industrial output in the city and increasing by 22.8 percent over last year, according to the city’s technology bureau recently.
“The city had allocated more than 35 million yuan in special funds to areas such as modern service, new materials, new energy and advanced manufacturing and introduced investments of about 160 million yuan to support 25 key technology research projects this year,” said Wang Anmin, general director of the city’s science and technology bureau.
In the next five years, the city will continue to promote basic research in new industry, industrialization of research achievements and creativity in new industry.
The city had promoted eight key projects this year to help the development of the high technology industry. Another 85 companies had been approved as high technology companies this year.
