A COMEDY created by the Qingdao Drama Theater was awarded as “Outstanding Repertory” at a national drama competition in Beijing on Dec. 24. Actress Zhang Yan, who played Third Uncle in the comedy, also received the “Outstanding Actor Award” in the competition.

    The play, “Ant Clan,” has been performed 19 times in Qingdao and was very well received by audiences. It is about the love, life and dreams of a group of young people who live together in a basement.

    Graduating from Shanghai Theater Academy in 1978, Zhang has performed in more than 20 plays over the past 33 years. (Wang Yuanyuan, Wang Ping)
