Dancing yo-yos
     2011-January-4  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A COMPETITOR showed his five-star yo-yo at a yo-yo competition in Qingdao, which attracted nearly 100 players. The top five outstanding yo-yo performers were awarded prizes.

The yo-yo is a popular toy consisting of a length of string tied at one end to a flat spool.

First made popular in the 1920s, the yo-yo is still very much enjoyed by children and adults, though it was originally a children’s toy.

The earliest surviving yo-yo dates to 500 B.C. and was made using terra cotta discs. (Jane Lai)
