TWO Qingdao companies will produce an original musical with a South Korean company after six months of negotiations and preparations.

    The musical will be based on dance and tell a story through a combination of dance and music. In the United States and Europe, a successful musical can run for decades. In China, musicals have been having an increasing impact.

    According to the three companies, the South Korean CD musical drama production company will be responsible for the script, directing and stage design. The company has staged performances on Broadway in the United States and plays an important role in Japanese and South Korean cultural markets.

    Performers will be selected from Chinese candidates, according to the two Chinese companies, Qingdao Spacetime Performance Co. Ltd. and Qingdao Song and Dance Theater.

    It will take about six months to finish the work which will premiere in August and then tour China.(Jane Lai, Wang Ping)
