FUSHAN Mountain in Qingdao will be developed into an ecological park in two years, according to the city’s park administration.
The Fushan Ecological Park, covering an area of about 2 million square meters, will have a plant science base, ecological experience center, leisure and sightseeing, and sports facilities.
“The park is planned in one belt, three areas and four valleys,” said Wu Chen, vice chief of the city’s bureau of parks.
Wu said the one belt was for sightseeing along Yinchuan West Road. The three areas were for fruit growing, protected forest, and a sports and leisure area. The four valleys are Flower Valley, Colored Leaves Valley, Fruit Valley and Pine Valley based on their distribution on Fushan Mountain.
The fruit growing area is about 600,000 square meters and a terraced area will be built to retain and conserve water.
Fruit trees will be planted in blocks to present chunks of color in the area which will be developed in 21 gardens based on soil, climate, hydrology and topography.
A total of 23,000 plants will be grown there, including peaches, pomegranates, apricots, persimmons, Chinese chestnuts, figs, kiwi fruit, red bayberry, American cherry, blueberry, loquats, grapes, jujubes, and cherries.
Sports and leisure facilities will become training grounds for table tennis and badminton.
Fushan Mountain is in the city area and is regarded as the mother mountain of Qingdao.
