China’s oldest lightboat retires
     2011-January-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CHINA’S oldest lightboat was retired Jan. 5 and sent to the Qingdao navigation exhibition hall. It is China’s first and oldest lightboat and was in service for 100 years in Tianjin and Qingdao.

The dark red lightboat is a different shape from modern vessels. “It is an old lightship built in 1911 and is now 100 years old,” said Jiang Peng, a member of the Qingdao navigation office of Tianjin Maritime Safety Administration. (Jane Lai, Song Xinhua)
