THE Ministry of Finance has approved the construction of a large rooftop photo voltaic power station in Qingdao.

    To cost more than 40 million yuan, the power station will be situated in Taiguang Shoe Making Industrial Park with an installed capacity of three mW.

    The power generation facilities will be installed on the rooftops of eight factory buildings, eight dormitories and canteens, as well as office buildings in the industrial park.

    The rooftop power station is Qingdao’s first and has been listed as a “Golden Sun Demonstration Project,” on a State subsidiary list of outstanding photo-voltaic power technology.

    Listed projects will receive a government subsidiary equivalent to half the total investment.

    Construction is scheduled to start this year and is expected to generate 3.8 million kwh of electricity each year for 25 years.
