Six industrial zones progressing
     2011-January-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CONSTRUCTION of six industrial zones built in Qingdao counties had progressed well since they were started two years ago, gradually becoming important platforms to promote industrial development and urbanization.

The six zones include the Xinhe Chemical Industrial Zone in Pingdu, the Yanghe Equipment Manufacturing Zone in Jiaozhou, the Longquan Automobile and Car Parts Industrial Zone in Jimo, the Nudao Ship Industrial Zone in Jimo, the Jiangshan Light Industrial Zone in Laixi and the Dongjiakou Heavy and Chemical Industrial Zone in Jiaonan.

According to the city’s commission for development and reform, as of 2010, the construction of infrastructure including roads, water, electricity, gas and heating costing more than 11 billion yuan had been completed in the six zones, including 3 billion yuan spent in 2010.

More than 800 projects costing about 100 billion yuan — infrastructure not included — had been introduced to the zones. With help from the zones, county development had been going well and total industrial output in the five counties in Qingdao was expected to account for about 49 percent of the whole city, 2 percent more than in 2009.
