LOCATED at No. 56, Dengzhou Road, in Qingdao, the 108-year-old Tsingtao Beer Factory has become the city’s first model company in developing a low-carbon economy.
The factory has promoted its experience in energy-saving among the other 50 companies under Tsingtao Brewery Co. Ltd.
“This award not only affirms our achievements in energy-saving and a low-carbon economy but also affirms the company’s ‘low-carbon operation mode.’ For us, it is not only an award but also an inspiration to make greater achievements and progress in the future,” Fan Wei, vice president of the company, said at the presentation ceremony.
Relevant departments also spoke highly about the factory’s report on promoting a low-carbon economy, saying “all the companies should learn from the factory to introduce a ‘low-carbon operation mode’ to the whole industrial chain.”
In recent years, the factory has continuously worked on improving manufacturing techniques to control pollutant disposal and recycling of waste. More than 98 percent of waste could be recycled.
According to the latest statistics, the company’s COD emissions were only 0.17 kilograms per unit of product in 2010, one of the lowest in China.
