Declaration drawn on vocational education
     2011-January-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A DECLARATION of vocational and technical education was passed at an ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) seminar in Qingdao from Jan. 11 to 13.

Some 60 experts from 23 ASEM countries gathered to discuss topics concerning vocational education and employment assistance at the seminar.

The declaration calls for ASEM members to hold vocational and technical education seminars regularly. A dialogue system should be established between ASEM countries to exchange talent, information, technology and experience, it says.

Multi-national companies should cooperate with local vocational schools. Bilateral, multilateral and bidirectional vocational education aid projects are encouraged.

The declaration also gives guidance to international cooperation on vocational education and training.

“The ASEM Vocational Education Seminar is significant in promoting cooperation among ASEM countries,” said Liu Yandong, State Councilor.

Liu said vocational education was strategic to revive the economy and improve people’s living quality.

The ASEM experts also visited Shandong Light Industry Engineering School, Qingdao Hotel Management Vocational School, CSR (China Southern Railway) Qingdao Sifang Company and Haier Group.
