CHINA’S first carbon sink fishery laboratory opened at Qingdao’s Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute at the China Academy of Fishery Science.
The head of the laboratory is Tang Qisheng, vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology and an academic at the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Carbon sink refers to ecology’s ability to absorb and store carbon dioxide.
China is the first country to propose the development of carbon sink fisheries.
The laboratory is expected to resolve technological problems in the development of carbon sink fisheries, providing theoretical technical support for the development of an efficient and low-carbon fishery.(Martin Li, Zhao Di)
