A SOLAR energy power plant started operating recently, the first in China to be built and operated commercially.

    The high-concentration solar energy power technology is the third generation of solar power technology, which was cheaper and occupied a smaller area of land.

    It also generated power in a much shorter time than earlier systems, said Yang Shuhua, president of the Qingdao Institute of Solar Energy.
