A PROJECT to protect the city’s 3,605 historic spots has been finished successfully, according to a press conferences held by the city’s Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress on Jan. 13.
The project was suggested by the deputies Feb. 7, 2009 and several departments, including the city’s commission of development and reform, culture bureau, urban management bureau and tourism bureau, have jointly worked together to make great achievements in protection.
During the process, the city’s first citywide census on histrionic spots was finished and 3,605 spots were approved to be protected. Illegal buildings covering about 3,302 square meters and illegal outdoor billboards covering about 2,253 square meters were dismantled. The city also discovered historic and cultural value of the city’s courtyard buildings.
The city will also carry out activities featuring tourism, cultural creative and modern services industries to protect the historic spots.
