Retired soldiers return to school
     2011-March-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

   深职院帮退役士兵变身为高技能人才

    Li Hao

Shenzhen Polytechnic has enrolled over 80 decommissioned soldiers from the local area.

The soldier students will receive two and a half years of vocational training at the school.

The school offers a variety of courses for decommissioned soldiers, such as administrative management, finance and information management, according to Fu Xiaoping, the school’s Party secretary.

In addition, the school appoints English teachers with experience of studying overseas to teach English, a difficult yet useful subject for most.

In cooperation with the Shenzhen Civil Affairs Bureau, Shenzhen Polytechnic has started enrolling local decommissioned soldiers as of September 2009.

The school has enrolled 200 decommissioned soldiers through examinations.

Zhang Yu, a teacher at the school, said that the soldier students are more independent, enterprising and enduring than average, possibly because they are able to appreciate the opportunity more.
