Most celebrity worshippers are middle school students, and their idolatry is becoming more and more serious.
On the one hand, the fans are numerous, because I have found that most of my classmates are such people. On the other hand, fandom can become an addictive and even maddening drug. Fans focus on every detail about their idols, for example, searching for their private info, screaming at their concerts, hanging on to their every word, following their every deed (especially scandals).
As their peer, I certainly can understand idolatry that at least brings interim happiness or psychological satisfaction to fans. But excessive idolatry obviously has many disadvantages.
Firstly, spending too much time thinking about their idols greatly shortens study time. As everybody knows, our study load is heavy.
Secondly, being a fan is an expensive business, which directly burdens parents.
Thirdly, fans can seldom learn anything from vacuous stars. On the contrary, fans may be “polluted” by their eccentric values and behavior.
Generally speaking, the disadvantages of being a fanatic outweigh the advantages. So, I think we’d better not idolize those showbiz figures.
