Man falls from mango tree
     2011-June-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A MAN surnamed Fan, 36, suffered bone fractures and internal bleeding after falling off a mango tree.

Fan climbed the tree near Hongli Road West to pick mangos Monday. According to witnesses, the branches couldn’t bear Fan’s weight and cracked. He fell from 10 meters above the ground.

Shenzhen hospitals have had several similar cases since mango trees started to bear fruit this month.

The urban administration authority warned pedestrians against picking mangos as the trees were planted for landscaping purposes and their fruit was barely edible.

In addition, the trees could well contain poisonous elements such as lead as they have been exposed to vehicle emissions for years.
