International school opens new campus
     2011-July-6  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    深美国际学校开新校

    Wang Yuanyuan

A second campus of Shenzhen American International School (SAIS) will soon be open to students in Futian District, the school said last week.

Located in Meilin Subdistict, the new campus will accept pre-school through ninth grade students, while the first campus in Nanshan District continues to accommodate pre-school through eighth grade, said Valerie Luce, principal of the school.

“The new campus offers large classrooms, a computer lab, science lab and language lab, up-to-date library, music room, art studio, sporting facilities and gives one the feeling of walking through an American school. The larger size will allow for increased enrollments as we do not wish to have students placed on a waiting list,” said Luce.

More than 20 licensed teachers from the United States will be invited to teach at the school, many of whom hold master’s degrees in education.

Enrollment has begun at the Admission Center in Nanshan campus, for both campuses, and will continue through the summer to allow all new applicants an opportunity to enroll for the 2011-2012 school year.

Parents and students are invited to attend open days to be held on July 9 and 30 and August 6 and 20 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. These events will offer the children activities that are both educational and fun, while parents can have a look of the new facilities and teachers, said Luce.
