New mother Karena Lam back in the spotlight
     2011-August-8  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FORMER actress Karena Lam made her first public appearance Friday since becoming a mother, saying that she does not regret choosing her family over her career.

Lam was in Beijing to promote one of her product endorsements. This appearance comes a year after she announced her decision to take a break from acting. At that time, she was pregnant with her first baby with advertisement director Steve Yuen. Lam gave birth to a healthy baby girl in October 2010.

The new mother said she had no plans to return to showbiz in the immediate future. She also stressed that she didn’t want her daughter to follow her choice of career path, adding that “being an entertainer is not easy. I’d like to respect her own choices.”

Talking about her decision to quit showbiz, Lam said: “It was not a hard decision to make. I like the current me better, devoting more time to my family and my baby.”

The 33-year-old actress, who was born in Canada but based in Asia, has starred in such films as “Inner Senses,” “July Rhapsody” and “Claustrophobia.” She is a five-time nominee for the Hong Kong Film Awards best actress prize, though she is still yet to get her hands on the award.(SD-Agencies)
