Taiwanese pop superstar Jay Chou will give a concert which will cover all his nine albums at Shenzhen Stadium on Sept. 17 after an absence of two years.
This time, Chou will create a new visual effect for his Shenzhen concert by blending futuristic imagery with splendid elements of the Middle Ages of the West. With a huge spaceship as the stage setting, Chou will show up as an explorer of space and time. The sharp visual contrast will bring audiences into a dream world.
Chou started his career in Taiwan with his first album “Jay Chou” in 2000, and has gained wide influence in China as well as overseas Chinese communities. He has greatly impressed mainlanders with his appearances at CCTV Spring Festival Galas in 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2011.
Chou was praised as the New Generation Superstar of Asian Music by Time magazine in 2003. He has been regarded as a revolutionary and landmark all-round singer through merging multiple musical elements including Chinese folk songs, Western classical music and American country music. In particular, he blended R&B and rap into his own style. As a result, his music presents a broad spectrum of styles, while highlighting a rich Chinese flavor which is composed, elegant, buoyant and sentimental.
Chou’s representative works include “Preface of Lanting Pavilion,” “A Thousand Miles Away” and “Blue-and-white Porcelain.” According to statistics by International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, Chou sold over 28 million records in Asia during the period of 2000 to 2010.
