Weekend box office
Brat Pitt was unable to put the cat out of first place at the weekend box office.
Walt Disney’s “The Lion King” remake was No. 1 for the second-straight weekend with US$22.1 million. That puts it just ahead of Pitt’s baseball drama “Moneyball.”
Governator’s memoir
Arnold Schwarzenegger is writing a memoir about his rise to fame and unlikely transition from Austrian-born champion bodybuilder to Hollywood action star to California governor.
The memoir, titled “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story,” was acquired by publisher Simon & Schuster after Schwarzenegger began working on the book last year. It will be released in October 2012.
Sutherland returns to ‘Touch’
“24” actor Kiefer Sutherland is set to return to television early next year in a new program from “Heroes” creator Tim Kring that will air on Fox.
The show, entitled “Touch,” is centered around a father’s relationship with his mute 11-year-old son, who has the ability to predict events before they happen.
Elton John’s biopic
British singer Elton John is in talks to make a film about his life, his spokesman said on Friday, in response to media reports about a planned biopic called “Rocketman.”
Newspapers and Web sites said that “Rocketman” would be produced by John’s partner David Furnish and Steve Hamilton Shaw and executive produced by the singer himself.
