Wang Feng to perform in Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium
     2011-October-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Helen Deng

CHINESE rock musician Wang Feng will hold a concert at Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium on Dec. 3, when he will sing songs from his first album in two years.

New songs such as “In Spring” and “Existence” and hits from his back catalogue such as “Flying Higher” (2004) and “Blooming Life” (2005) will be sung at the concert.

Wang’s songs are largely themed on hardship. To highlight this theme, the organizer of the concert, Juooo.com, is asking fans to write down what it is they are struggling with and send their information to the microblog of the concert. Two participants will then be invited to a press conference before the show. They will get signed posters as well as free tickets presented by the singer.

Tickets have been sold out, having cost 180 yuan (US$28).

The singer held a concert in Beijing Olympic Center Stadium in April, and tickets were sold out two weeks before he took the stage. The atmosphere reached fever pitch when more than 5,000 fans sang “In Spring” together.

Wang is in the United States recording a new album. This album, according to him, is “unprecedented in quality, scale, and spiritual depth.” He visited his idol, Bob Dylan, widely regarded as the most influential pop singer of the 20th century in the United States. Wang plans to invite Dylan to his concert as a guest singer.

Wang was the founder and lead singer of the band No. 43 Baojia Street. His latest album “Belief Flies in the Wind” (2009) won him an award as the Most Popular Male Singer on the Chinese Mainland at Channel V’s 14th Chinese Music Awards.

    Time: 8 p.m., Dec. 3

    Location: Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium

    Prices: 180-1,280 yuan
