More than 1.48 million teachers and students participated in the Universiade, helping promote the event to the world, according to the city's Education Bureau last week.
Nearly all the city's schools and universities contributed to the event and 113 schools and 2,324 students and teachers were awarded for their outstanding service.
Most of the middle school volunteers served at U Stations, while many students from Shenzhen Foreign Languages School and English teachers helped provide translation services to foreign guests.
Shenzhen University had more than 20,000 students serving at the sports venues and major roads during the Games, the bureau said.
The students also held painting exhibitions and dancing performances at the Universiade Village to introduce Chinese culture, the bureau said.
"The Universiade had brought a great opportunity for the city's students to see more about the world and gain more social experience. Many students spent their spare time on voluntary works and had impressed guests from around the world," said Guo Yurong, director of the bureau.
