Gao Xiaosong released after 6 months in jail
     2011-November-9  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

After 184 days in a Beijing jail, Gao Xiaosong was released yesterday morning.

After his release, Gao showed up at Beijing international airport at noon to head for the United States to promote “My Kingdom,” a movie directed by Gao before his jail term, at a film festival in New York.

The 42-year-old singer, music producer and director was found guilty of drunken driving on May 9 after a car crash which resulted in a four vehicle pileup*.

He became the first Chinese celebrity* to be punished under tough new traffic rules which came into effect on May 1.

Gao has since apologized to the public and his family for his actions and expressed his willingness to be a volunteer in promoting a campaign to discourage drunken driving.

Whilst in jail, Gao also wrote the theme song “Like a Dream” for “My Kingdom” which was released in September.
