City not short of uniform
     2011-November-9  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Wang Yuanyuan

Students and parents have complained about the difficulty of buying school uniform despite the Education Bureau saying the problem had been solved.

There was a shortage of school uniform in September and October, but it is no longer a problem, said Cao Saixian, vice director of the bureau.

Due to the Universiade, uniform production companies could not get their usual estimate from the schools in July, which was responsible for the shortage, said Cao.

However, the uniforms usually worn in September and October are no longer needed as students will soon start wearing their winter uniform.

There are nine companies in charge of making uniforms in the city and each company serves the schools in one area.

“There are more than 300,000 primary and middle school students in Bao’an District and the number of new students is about 50,000 on average. There are two companies in the district and their uniforms are enough for our students in general,” said a director from Bao’an District’s Education Bureau surnamed Su.

Students and parents are encouraged to buy uniforms at licensed shops. “There were some unlicensed shops selling fake uniforms. They are cheaper but are of poor quality,” said Cao.
