Hong Kong comedy star Ricky Hui dies at 65
     2011-November-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

COMEDIAN Ricky Hui, the goofy one of the three Hui brothers who dominated Hong Kong cinema in the 1970s and 1980s, has died of a heart attack. He was 65.

He was found dead at his Hong Kong home Tuesday night by his brother Stanley Hui. Hong Kong media reports said Ricky Hui had a pacemaker and had been unwell Monday. A friend of his raised the alarm, after no one answered the door at his home in Kowloon Tong on Tuesday.

Ricky Hui starred with his brothers, comedian Michael Hui and singer Sam Hui, in such comedies as “Games Gamblers Play” (1974) and “The Private Eyes” (1976). Without his brothers, he also starred in the horror comedy classics “Mr. Vampire” (1985) and “The Haunted Copshop” (1987).

He was not only an actor but a very good singer, too. He released seven albums, most of them on vinyl in the 1970s and 1980s. Ricky Hui was also a returning guest on Sam Hui’s concerts singing a few songs on his own or duets with his brother. He often participated in TV Game Shows as well. (SD-Agencies)
