Golden Horse Awards
Hong Kong drama “A Simple Life” swept the board on Saturday at the Golden Horse Awards with gongs* for best director, actor and actress.
Hong Kong actress Deanie Ip took the best actress award. Ip, 64, played a servant who wants to move into a nursing home after suffering a stroke* in “A Simple Life,” a role that also won her the best actress award at September’s Venice International Film Festival.
Batman role
“The Dark Knight Rises” may be Christian Bale’s final performance as crime-fighting superhero Batman, the actor told the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Set for release in July, the movie is Bale’s third stint as Gotham’s Caped Crusader for director Christopher Nolan, after “Batman Begins” (2005) and “The Dark Knight” (2008).
Morgan welcomes fourth child
Television host Piers Morgan became a father for the fourth time on Friday after his wife gave birth to a baby girl, Morgan announced on Twitter. This is the first child for Morgan and second wife Celia Walden, 34, a writer at British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.
Michael postpones tour
British singer George Michael has been forced to postpone the rest of his European tour due to “severe” pneumonia*, his spokeswoman said on Friday.
But she denied reports that the former Wham! frontman* was suffering from serious heart problems and was “slowly improving” in hospital in Vienna. (SD-Agencies)
