While “street snap shots” are popular with adult netizens, the city’s middle school students have been uploading “campus snap shots” to their microblogs.
There are campus snap shot accounts on microblogs from schools such as Shenzhen Middle School, Bibo Middle School, Shenzhen No.2 Senior High School, Bao’an Middle School and Attached Middle School of Shenzhen University.
Currently, campus snap shots of Shenzhen Middle School have the largest number of followers with the largest numbers of comments.
“Adults’ street snap shots tend to focus on fashion and brands with attractive girls in short skirts or long leggings, but campus snap shots normally involve ordinary scenes from students’ lives. It makes me nostalgic for my own school days,” said Zhang Yu, a 28-year-old civil servant.
Qiao Yuanzhen and A M Elee are students at Shenzhen Middle School who took their first snap shots in March.
“We started doing it because we liked taking pictures and wanted to share them with friends and classmates,” said Qiao.
Qiao said they were not the first to do it. “We first saw it being done by students at Shenzhen No.2 Senior High School and were impressed,” she said.
“A good subject for a campus snap shot must have a distinctive appearance. It does not matter how fashionable his/her clothes are,” said A M Elee.
“Fashion” and “style” are the two most important factors in street snaps, but they meant nothing in campus snaps.
“The most important thing is to record a scene of middle school life,” said Qiao.
