De Niro's baby girl

Hollywood veteran* Robert De Niro, 68, and his 56-year-old wife, Grace Hightower, welcomed a healthy 3.3-kilogram baby girl named Helen Grace Hightower through a surrogate mother*.

She is the couple's second child. Their son, Elliot, is 13. The "New Year's Eve" and "Limitless" star has four other children from previous relationships.

'Drive' year's best

"Drive," starring Ryan Gosling as a professional stunt* driver caught up with gangsters, has been chosen as the best movie of 2011 by the Utah Film Critics Association.

The film also won a supporting actor nod for Albert Brooks, who played a quietly vicious* mob boss, and for its cinematography.

Most-viewed actor

"Black Swan" actress Natalie Portman topped on movie Web site IMDb's annual list of most-viewed actors, which was based on the number of views received by each actor's profile* page.

IMDb Managing Editor Keith Simanton attributed* Portman's topping of the list to her Best Actress Oscar for "Black Swan" and roles in three films in 2011: "No Strings Attached," "Your Highness" and "Thor."

Additionally, Portman was a regular fixture* in the tabloids this year, as she had a baby boy in June.

Lavigne to play in China

Canadian singer Avril Lavigne will spend the last day of 2011 with fans in China.

Lavigne will headline a star-studded* concert held by China's Jiangsu Satellite TV to mark the arrival of the New Year, the broadcaster has announced. Lavigne will arrive in China on December 30.
