When Guo Jingjing, China’s diving queen, marries Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, a member of one of Hong Kong’s richest families, in October, the celebrations will cost about 100 million yuan (US$15.8 million), according to Hong Kong media reports. At a public appearance last Wednesday, the 30-year-old former sports star was reported to have silently confirmed her “big day” to reporters.

Fans of Jack Bauer have something to look forward to. A movie based on the old Fox series “24” is scheduled to begin shooting this spring. Actor Kiefer Sutherland said on Sunday that he expects to go to work on the movie in late April or May. Sutherland played Bauer, the centerpiece* on the pulse-quickening* adventure series that ended its television run in 2010.
