Many people think that no matter how well they perform in the National College Entrance Examinations (NCEE), their future will be the same as their peers. However, according to MyCOS Research Institute, the higher your NCEE score is, the easier it will be to find a highly paid job.
The institute conducted a survey among nearly 230,000 university graduates at 2,093 universities at the end of last year and studied their employment rate, income and quitting rate in the past six months.
In key universities, graduates with higher NCEE scores may be the same as those with relatively low scores, but their incomes and job positions are more likely to improve after working for at least six months. It can be seen that those with higher NCEE scores will get promoted more easily than others.
For polytechnic students, it is much easier for those with higher NCEE scores to get a job.
Meanwhile, higher NCEE scores can also bring a higher income. The average income for the top 20 percent of scorers is 4,000 yuan (US$634) after working for six months, while the income is only 3,141 yuan for those in the bottom 20 percent.
Moreover, low scorers quit their jobs more frequently than high scorers. According to the research, only 12 percent of key university graduates left their jobs after working for six months, but the percentage of polytechnic graduates reached 49 percent.
