伤不起 shāngbuqǐ
     2012-January-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Meaning:

"伤不起," which means "too delicate to bear a blow," was a popular phrase in 2011, revealing the public's sensitivity to personal and social problems, and their call for justice and equity. It first became popular at renren.com, appearing in the headlines of posts. There is also a pop song of the same title describing the fear of losing one's love.

    Example:

    A: 你的工作有着落了吗?

Nǐ de gōngzuò yǒu zhuóluò le ma?

    How is your jobseeking?

    B: 我去美国留学,学的是博物馆学,回来以后发现很难找工作。

Wǒ qù měiguó líuxué, xué de shì bówùguǎnxué, huílai yǐhòu fāxiàn hénnán zhǎo gōngzuò。

I went to the United States to study museology. But I find it very difficult to find a job after I return to China.

    A: 学博物馆学你伤不起啊!

    Xué bówùguǎnxué nǐ shāngbuqǐ a!

You cannot bear the blow to take museology as your major!
