BEACHCOMBERS were stumped when these giant footprints appeared in the sand at Blackpool in Britain.
At 35m long each, they appeared to suggest a monster had emerged from the sea and strode across the beach towards the town, leaving behind a trail in the sand.
In Britain, an average man is about 180cm tall and wears a size 9 shoe, equating to around a 28cm foot. A person capable of creating these footprints would be expected to stand at at least 189m tall.
But the three footprints were actually created by high-speed artists Ged Bryan and Jon Hicks of Devon-based firm Here and Gone.
Their arty endeavor was a race against time, as the professional scenic painters had to work during the space between low and high tides.
The project took around four hours and created quite a stir amongst locals.
“It was lovely to see the reaction of people as they came across the prints,” Ged said.
The work was to promote “Slightly Fat Features” — a cabaret currently appearing at The Sands Theater in the resort.
In January, the same team made a big splash after raking a spectacular image of a diver onto a beach in just under three hours.
In their first attempt at sand art, the pair had set themselves the ambitious task of completing the drawing of a swimmer mid-dive onto a beach. (SD-Agencies)
