More than 800 students from Shenzhen attended a self-enrollment examination organized by Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, at Shenzhen Middle School in Luohu District last Saturday.
The examinations covered Chinese, English and mathematics for both art and science students, said Huang Lingling, a student from Shenzhen Hongling Middle School.
“It was not as difficult as expected. Essay questions made up half of the Chinese and English examinations,” said Huang.
Now that the examinations are over, Senior 3 students can focus on the mock examinations for the National College Entrance Examinations (NCEE) organized by the city.
The self-enrollment examination held last Saturday was only for students in Guangdong Province. The session for those in other provinces was held on February 11.
Students who performed outstandingly in the examination can get 20 additional points in their NCEE. If their NCEE scores exceed the required entrance score for the university, they can get 5 additional points, which increases the number of majors they can choose.
The examination was held at nine examination venues in the province and more than 5,000 students attended the examination.
